Sony announces the Xperia Sola which comes with ‘floating touch’

undefined
Sony’s Xperia series now has a new entry: Xperia Sola which comes with an unusual feature dubbed as ‘floating touch’. Floating touch means less finger touching on the screen because now you can hover your finger over the items and if you really need to click something then you lightly tap the screen. Is it something good or users might find it a wasted effort.
The phone itself is a lot slimmer than its predecessors and weighs only 107 grams. The screen, completely dominating the front panel, is a 3.7-inch Reality Display Bravia touchscreen with an 854 x 480 pixel resolution. It’s camera is 5-megapixel one with auto-focus and video light.
Xperia Solo comes with a 1Ghz NovaThor processor. Solo has also an additional feature: NFC connectivity, plus a couple of Sony’s Xperia NFC SmartTags.
The only downside at the moment is that the Xperia Sola has Android 2.3 Gingerbread installed from the factory, but Sony says that an Ice Cream Sandwich update will be coming during the summer months.
The Xperia Sola will be launching around the world sometime between the end of this month and the end of June, when it’ll be available in black, white or red. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
