Mayan code broken?

German mathematician Joachim Rittstieg claims to have broken the secret code of the Mayans. According to him, in doing so, he will be able to find the location of a cache of gold in Guatemala.
The scientist told reporters that after forty years of effort he has finally been able to read one of four Mayan manuscripts that survived the fires of the Spanish Inquisition and which is stored in Dresden.
At the site of a vanished Mayan city there were kept 2,156 gold plates, on which were engraved the laws by which the ancient Indian civilization lived. The Plates weigh about 8 tons.

This Is the Definitive Photograph of Planet Earth

Unlike NASA's Blue Marble—which is a composite made from many different photographs—this is a portrait of Earth taken in one single shot. It's the highest resolution image of our home planet, 121 megapixels. That's an amazing 0.62 miles per pixel.

This image was not taken by NASA or the European Space Agency. It's been taken by Russia's latest weather satellite, the Electro-L.
Elektro-L is now orbiting Earth on a geostationary orbit 36,000 kilometers above the equator, sending photographs of theentire planet every 30 minutes using a 2.56 to 16.36 Mbits per second connection with ground control. The images—and the video of the Northern Hemisphere—combines four light wavelengths, three visible and one infrared. The orange you are seeing here is the vegetation.
According to Robert Simmon-a scientist at the NASA Earth Observatory, Goddard Space Flight Center-the Russian images are not better or worse than NASA's images. They are just different visualizations of reality based on different data sets:
Elektro-L is a Russian Satellite similar to GOES (the satellites that provide the cloud image loops shown on the news every night). The images posted by Gizmodo are a combination of visible and near-infrared wavelengths, so they show the Earth in a way not visible to human eyes (vegetation looks red, for example). They're not any better or worse than NASA images, but they show different things.
The Elektro-L is similar to their GOES satellites. "It's a geostationary weather satellite orbiting above the equator at ~54˚ East" says Robert, "the US has two similar operational geostationary satellites over the east and west coasts, EUMETSAT has one over Europe and one over the Indian Ocean, Japan has one over the far western Pacific." The difference between them is that Elektro-L uses three bands in reflected light-red and two near infrared bands-while NASA's GOES doesn't have the near-infrared.
Dennis Chesters, GOES Project Scientist at Goddard, explains the Russian process in more detail:
The 3 reflected sunlight bands can simulate a conventional red-green-blue color picture. The near infrared channel is a vegetation indicator, since plants reflect near-ir as well as green. You can learn more about the basic characteristics of Elektro-L's ten-channel imager, the Multichannel Scanning Unit (MSU), here.

Choosing jeans according to your figure type

jeans are the most versatile garments.

Both women and men like wearing them. They are appropriate for a visit to a local grocery as well as a posh party or red carpet occasion. The most interesting thing about jeans is that they were first made for men to wear to work and much later ladies adopted them for their wardrobes. Nowadays there are plenty of fashion models created especially for women.
They are nice, durable and comfortable. And what is the most pleasant about them is that jeans are now made for all women figure types. I wrote this post to explain how jeans should be selected to suit your particular figure well.
Jeans for tall women
Tall women should pay attention to long or extra long jeans of light hues. Low rise is the best. Jeans may be flared, straight, rolled up, relaxed fit or boot-cut.

Steer clear of short jeans, cigarette style jeans and the ones that are narrowed to the bottom. When purchasing jeans search for pairs with ‘For tall women’ or ‘Extra long’ labels. You may also want to buy a pair with hemline that needs to be shaped so that you completed them according to your own choice.
Jeans for petite women
Tight-fitting stretch and extra long jeans narrowed to bottom, as well as pairs with rolled up legs should be avoided as they make your figure look shorter.
Forget about light hues, they are not for you. Whist boot-cut jeans of dark tones look well. Straight cigarette jeans with high-heeled shoes of the same color will add extra length to your legs. Too relaxed models will make you look too thin and very close-fitting jeans will attract much attention to your height.
Jeans for women with narrow hips and flat buttocks
The best choice for you is light flared jeans with high or low rise (if you have a nice waist).
Such models will draw the focus away from your hips and buttocks accentuating the ankles and feet and add volume to create a more curved and feminine figure.
Jeans for women with indistinct waist
Women with indistinct waist have to buy jeans of a bigger size as the ones which suit them perfectly squeeze their waist too much.
My advice for you is to choose the size you usually buy and fit them to your shape. The only thing to mention here is that jeans must be straight and tight, this will make your midriff visually smaller and more proportionate to your hips. Besides, you may select men’s jeans and probably find the model that fits you best.
Jeans for women with wide hips
Back pockets must be rather big and cover as much of your buttocks as it is possible. In case the pockets are small or the space between them is too large your hips will look even wider. Good models for you are: pairs with low rise or relaxed fit jeans of dark tints made from thick coarse denim with straight wide legs parting right from the hips.
Keep in mind that too tight-fitting stretch jeans of light colors, narrowed to the bottom, with high and narrow midriff make the woman look fatter. Hips will look wider and lower than they actually are.
Jeans for plump women
Pay attention to the fabric. Soft thin denim fits well and provides good shape. As a rule plump women choose to wear too relaxed fit jeans which are too big for them and bristle much.
This isn’t right as too wide jeans or pants make women look fatter. Prefer dark-colored jeans narrowed to the bottom. They shouldn’t be too narrow or too tight. And don’t forget that elastic midriff is the best for you, it provides comfort and nice look.
And remember one universal rule: high rise makes your legs look longer while the low rise shortens them.
All these tips are good recommendations but they are anyway too generalized and sometimes can lose its significance due to the fact your shape is unique as well as your character is. So, keeping the advice given in mind try on all the jeans you want to buy and then decide whether our advice works for you or not.   via: milionlook.com

ZeroN , Computer controlled magic levitation made by MIT student

ZeroN is the name of the project carried out by Jinha Lee. ZeroN uses magnets, a Kinect visual system (webcam based), plus a special software that enables either the computer to move a steel ball around in space, or a human to just grab it and move it, essentially telling the computer where it should go. It can even remember how it was moved, then repeat the movement automatically.

What if materials could defy gravity, so that we could leave them suspended in mid-air? ZeroN is a physical and digital interaction element that floats and moves in space by computer-controlled magnetic levitation.

smallest drivable electric car

How do you allay your parking woes? You could walk or bike to your destination but sometimes, owning acar is just plain necessary. But the lack of parking space can be a huge hassle especially when you need to make multiple stops. Romano Artioli, ex-owner of the Lotus and Bugatti brands, has developed a tiny single-seater eco-friendly car that’s small enough to fit into an office elevator. Measuring just 1 meter in width and 1.5 meters in height, the Volpe weighs only 350 kg and can squeeze itself into the smallest of spaces.

So tiny is the Volpe that it can zip about your workplace and even fit in your office to be charged from your desk. The small car is meant for city commuters and though it doesn’t touch high speeds – just 30 mph max – it’s perfect for congested areas. There’s also not a lot of space for baggage but unless you plan to cram in plenty of goods, the Volpe makes the ideal small city car.
Volpe, world's smallest electric car fits in an elevator and can be parked and charged at your work desk.
Artioli worked with coachbuilder Zagato which is responsible for styling limited edition models of Aston Martins. The idea was to design a car that could help ease traffic congestion which is becoming a daily nightmare for commuters.
To further limit its size, Volpe sports scissor doors and a miniature motor that’s street legal as a quadricycle. This means that anyone who’s as young as 16 and has a motorcycle license can drive it. The eco friendly car will sell for about 5,600 pounds and is set to hit European markets by 2013.
The unique car has generated quite a buzz in online forums with many praising it for its aesthetics and functionality. As small as it is, however, it still doesn’t beat the record of the Peel P50 microcar which measures just 54 inches in length and 41 inches in width.
