Top 10 Most Expensive Houses in the World

What makes a home varies wildly around the world. From a small apartment in the heart of Dubai, to a hut in the steppes of Mongolia, to two-story prefab on a quarter-acre lot in Phoenix, houses come in many shapes and sizes. On occasion, they also come in monster size.
In 2012, the average cost of an American home was $178,600, and that includes everything from spanking-new "McMansions" to run-down ranches [source: National Association of Realtors]. There are those in the world, however, who pour entire fortunes into their homes. While even homes on the market for a few million dollars are out of grasp for most of us, there are some people who've exceeded even that expense, spending what amounts to the gross domestic product of some countries on their homes.
While every person's home is his or her castle, sometimes we still can't help but gawk at someone else's really large, really expensive house. It's in this spirit that we get to the bottom of just who has the most expensive home in the world? We settle the issue here, taking a glimpse at the top ten.

Nicknamed the "billionaire building," the ultra-luxury One57 tower, located at 157 West 57th St. in New York City recorded the most expensive purchase price the state's history in 2012: more than $90 million. The buyer of the 10,923-square-foot (1,012-square-meter) penthouse, which occupies both the 89th and 90th floors of the Midtown highrise, remains shrouded in secrecy [source: Barrionuevo]. The New York Post leaked that it was Sheik Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabar al-Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, but One57 spokespeople denied the rumor [source: Brennan]. Whoever bought the penthouse is getting quite a bargain, since it was originally listed at $115 million.
Even though the One57 tower is still under construction, more than half of its 92 apartments are spoken for [source: Barrionuevo]. The building will also be the home of the new Park Hyatt flagship hotel, and residents will benefit from the luxury hotel's renowned service. The penthouse features 23-foot (7-meter) ceilings and glass curtain walls offering a panoramic view of Central Park below. Its sales price of roughly $8,000 per square foot was actually cheaper than the $13,000 per square foot Manhattan apartment bought by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, but that penthouse went for a paltry $88 million total [source: Brennan].

Magic Tips to Expand a Small Space

Many may believe that living in a small space means that you will likely have to do without certain things. This can be true when you find your room being physically smaller than that dream king sized bed, but really, when the space is utilized efficiently and correctly you can fit just about anything anywhere.
I lived in a small house growing up. I had an even smaller room there. When I went to college, I lived in what was essentially a tuna can. The apartment I live in now is a small place and I can only imagine my future house will be small. So I am pretty much the authority on making the best of small spaces. It took some serious experimenting, and a little bit of watching HGTV, but ultimately, I have learned that trying to make all the things you want to fit in a small space or just making it feel a little less claustrophobic is a fun exercise in creativity.

Declutter

Before doing anything else, have a sit down with your stuff. Decide which of it you need and which of it you can part with, store in other rooms if possible, or put in a container. This can be difficult if you have some hoarding tendencies, even if they are minimal, some things you just have a problem letting go. Like old magazine, for example, maybe you keep them for beauty tips or just because you might read through them someday. Go through them, maybe put the articles you want to keep in a scrapbook, but otherwise they are just taking up space.
There is a fine line between decluttered and being an obsessive minimalist, though. Never let anyone tell you that you can't have a few decorations or things you don't necessarily need. However, if you are working with limited space, you have to limit yourself.

Utilize Wall Space

This is probably been the greatest tip behind my personal success. You don't need bookshelves and dressers that take up valuable floorspace. Try going up instead! Get yourself a level, a stud finder, some screws, a power drill and some brackets and start building shelves. Alternatively, find someone else to build shelves. Hang hooks for bath towels, coats and hats. Build small shelves by your desk for books, magazines, and other knickknacks.
If you have a particularly empty corner in a room, perhaps under some shelves, build another rack to hang some of your prettier clothes from. You would be amazed how building up onto walls and limiting what you put on the floor opens up a room.
There are two things I love to shop for: glassware and furniture that serves multiple purposes. There are so many options for furniture that do more than one thing. For example, a bed frame that has a bed on top and a desk on the bottom. Those are popular in dorm rooms to save space, but after awhile as an adult the allure gets old. However, it is perfect for a small child's room.
Run out of space to put things on walls without it looking really strange? That's okay. Find things like ottomans that serve as a place to sit, but open up to become storage. Find a bed frame with drawers underneath of clothes or other miscellany. Essentially the best way to expand a space is to have all or almost all multipurpose objects. Why have just a table when you could have a table with a drawer in it to store things?
Perhaps the problem with your small room is not how much stuff you have, but you find yourself feeling a bit constricted. Mirrors are the oldest trick in the decorating book for small rooms. Anyone who has ever been to a gym will know why. They plaster a side of the room with floor to ceiling mirrors and a small room looks twice as big. However, adding floor to ceiling mirrors in a domestic room is a bit excessive.
Mirrors, even decorative ones hung on the opposite wall from a window does wonders to open up the room. It makes you feel as if you magically gained another window and will almost always forget about how little space there is behind you.
Aside from creating the illusion of another window and depth, mirrors will help keep your room bright during the day time. A dash of color, as I will be discussing later, can open up a room however keeping the room light will always make it seem like there is more space than there actually is.

A Dash of Color

Sometimes it is not about increasing space, but making your mind think you have. This was the concept with adding mirrors, but it is also the concept behind picking appropriate colors to paint your room if you can.
The general rule for keeping a room looking open and spacious is to bathe it in white. It works, but white can get boring after awhile. Try using color accents on walls to help open the place up while still keeping it looking interesting. Like with mirrors, paint the opposite wall to give the illusion of depth. Avoid red and black at all costs. Red may be so tempting as it can make a room so beautiful if done right, but it also constricts the room. It makes it cozier instead of more spacious. If you have a particularly large window, try a earthy spring green tone instead, with white accents.
Or instead, use small accents of colors opposed to painting a whole wall. However, not too many colors, then things will just be chaos.

Try Going Soft

For some reason, hard sharp edges constrict a room. If you have a closet, whose hard doors are staring you right in the face all day, do something about it. Try removing the closet doors and replacing them with a curtain.  Get desks and shelves that end with a curve instead of a point.
Making the décor softer, at least in its curves makes thing look a little more spacious. At least to me, it has always been that way. Plus, things look a little more exciting.

Meanings of the Top 5 Baby Girl Names in 2013

You may already know whether you have one of the more popular baby girl names of 2013 so far. The question is whether you know what your daughter’s name means? If you’re expecting a girl, you’re likely trying to come up with name ideas and knowing the meanings can really help with that. The meaning can help instil strength into your child and help her become the daughter you have always pictured.
Here are the tip 5 baby girl names in 2013 so far and their meanings.

Number 5: Ava-Hebrew for Life/Breathe

In Hebrew, the name Ava means life or breathe. There are different variations of the spelling, including Eve and Eva. It is a name that used to be extremely popular in Germany but also has links in Afghanistan, where the name means voice.
One of the variations, Eva, is the name of a very famous woman: Eva Person. Eva Peron was the second wife of Colonel Juan Peron, who was president of Argentina between 1946 and 1955 and then between 1973 and 1974.
Ava was given to the name of a nun in the 9th century, who was later made a saint. Saint Ava was cured of blindness by St. Rainfredis.

Number 4: Olivia-Latin for Olive

The actual meaning for this will depend on the language that it is being derived from. When taken from the Latin, it is derived from Oliva, which means “olive tree.” However, there is an English origin, which means “Elf Army.”
The name became popular throughout England after the use of it in the Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Where he got the name from is unknown. It is possibly a female version of Oliver. Another speculation is that Shakespeare took the name from the word olive.
The name didn’t really become widely used until the 18th century but it was the latter half of the 20th century that England really started to use it for baby girls. In the United States, the TV show The Waltons in the 1970s made the name popular and it has reached number four for the past few years. It is number one in Canada!

Number 3: Isabella-Consecrated to God

Isabella is a name that is popular in countries like Italy and Spain but it’s origin is Hebrew. It literally means “My God is a vow”. Many queens throughout history have been named Isabella; one of the most famous was Isabella of Castile, who was Catherine of Aragon’s mother (Henry VIII’s first wife).
Isabella was also the name given to Edward II of England’s wife. Edward II is the king known for his lack of leadership. Queen Isabelle led to Edward being overthrown by their son for the sake of the country.
There are many variations of the name, including Isabel, Isabelle and even Elizabeth! Some of the nicknames include Izzy and Bella.

Number 2: Emma-German for Universal

The name Emma was originally Germanic and a shorter form for those names that began with ermen, which means universal or whole. It was brought to England when Emma of Normandy came to the country, who was the mother of Edward the Confessor. It is also the name of an Austrian saint from the 11th century, sometimes written as Hemma.
Emma has been on the top 10 list for baby girl names for a long time now. It has a timeless sound and is suitable for all ages. Depending on dialects, it can sometimes be pronounced as “Imma”. This is more common in some of the more northern parts of Scotland.
One of the most famous uses of the name was by Jane Austen in her novel with the same name. It was used in the poem Henry and Emma by Matthew Prior in 1709.

Number 1: Sophia-Greek for Wisdom

Number 1 on the top 5 baby girl names in 2013 so far is Sophia. This is a name with various spellings, including Sofia, Sophie, Sofie and Sophy. It is a Greek name originally, with the meaning of wisdom and was brought to England when George I of England came to the throne. Sophia was supposed to be Queen Consort of England but she died shortly before the death of Queen Anne; the last Stuart Queen.
There are stories and myths about a saint who died after her daughters were martyred. However, these stories likely came from the Hagia Sophia, which means holy wisdom, and was a large basilica in Constantinople. There were many misunderstandings of the phrase Hagia Sophia during the medieval times.
It has been in the top 10 names for baby girls for a few years now and reached the top spot in 2010, overtaking Isabella, which was number one at the time. The year before (2008), Isabelle wasn’t even in the top 5!
Interestingly enough, the top 5 baby names for girls have been virtually the same over the last few years (2009 onwards). There has been the odd slip from a couple but they have always been somewhere in the top 10. It shows how timeless the names are. This may help you with your decision for your bundle of joy—or it may give you names to stay away from because they are too popular!

Differences Between the Flu and Colds

Being sick is not fun at all.  You have to learn to take care of yourself. Remember that health is wealth that is why you should learn to take good care of your body. However, regardless of your effort to maintain your healthy body, there would always be time that you will get sick. The most common sickness you can experience is flu and cold. The flu and colds are likely to happen during cold season but, they can hit you anytime, anywhere and it is hard to identify the main difference between the two. A lot of people today do not really know the main difference between flu and cold and it is quite confusing and challenging to evaluate the two since they are quite similar to each other.

What are Colds and Flues?

Flu and colds are both viral infections that can attack your respiratory system. However, the influenza virus is the main cause of flu whereas rhino-virus is the one that causes a cold. Flu happens in unexpected situation and can come upon you quickly, while cold typically develops slowly. In general, flu may appear like a cold at the start which is a milder illness as compared to flu. And while the symptoms of a cold can make you feel quite bad and lousy for a few hours or even a couple of days, the symptoms of flu can make you feel really bad for many days to weeks. The after effects of the flu can affect your for even weeks.

To help you more in identifying if you have flu or cold, you should fully understand their main differences in terms of their main causes, signs, and symptoms.  You have to know which one you have in order to know what treatment is correct.
You should know that he common cold is an inflammation in the mucous membrane which is usually caused by 200 different types of viruses. If you are about to have a cold, you will start having a sore throat which usually happens on first day. After that, you will experience nasal problems, a runny nose, coughing, and congestion. During the first two days that you have symptoms of cold, it's better for you to stay home and get enough rest since you are already contagious. Cold viruses can spread easily through nose-blowing, nose-wiping, and sneezing. So basically, you can be affected by a cold if you are able to come in contact and inhale viruses from someone who is infected with a cold.
Some of the common symptoms of cold are nasal stuffiness, headaches, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, nose and throat irritation, and muscles aches and pains. They can cause you to feel terrible but mostly these things are just uncomfortable and drain you physically.
If you experience these symptoms, you definitely have a cold and it will typically last for no more than a week. However, if your cold symptoms do not go away after a week and you still feel very weak, it would be advisable that you check with your doctor right away because you probably have developed sinusitis or other allergies.
On the other hand, flu, which is also known as influenza can cause a much serious effect on you as its symptoms are more severe as compared to a cold. It is a highly contagious disease that can infect you through touching contaminated areas such as tables, chairs door handles, utensils, door handles and the likes.  You can also catch the influenza virus by merely being around someone who has flu and keeps on coughing and sneezing.  The influenza virus is considered as an airborne virus and therefore, flu is contagious just by being in the presence of someone having the disease.
One common complication of the flu virus is pneumonia, which can be very risky for both young and adults especially those with heart and lung problems. Flu viruses usually start by entering your body through your eyes, nose, and mouth's mucous membrane. Again this is an airborne disease and since we rely on our breathing and touching things, we are more susceptible to the contagious virus.
Among the common symptoms of flu includes high fever, headache, sore throat, hoarse cough, and aching arm, legs, and back. If you experience the following symptoms of flu, you will feel very weak due to fever for the first 2 to 4 days and coughing and tiredness can last for more than a week.
Once you experience any of the signs and symptoms of flu and cold, it's very important that you take the right medicines to control them from spreading. And since both flu and cold have similar symptoms and it seems so hard to tell their differences based on signs and symptoms alone, it is best advisable that you visit your doctor as soon as possible so you'll know exactly if you have a flu or cold as well as you will be provided with the appropriate medications to take, and be further examined for other illnesses.

How to Treat the Flu and the Cold

The Center for Disease Control says you should get plenty of rest.  This will mean you should take off a couple of day from work or school.  You should not go around others for at least 24 hours after you stop having fever.  Fever is a sign you are contagious and your body is heating up to fight off the virus.
Get the rest you need. Your body needs to use all its energy to fight off this virus.  Stress can cause the virus to move and reproduce faster.  If you are resting, those resources can be used to fight off the virus.
If you have a cold or flu do not eat or drink after anyone.  Do not let anyone eat or drink after you either.  You need to disobey your parents on this one and do not learn to share, at least do not share this virus.
You should drink plenty of liquids.  This will help directly by fighting off the virus.  However, indirectly it will help you to keep from getting dehydrated, which is a common occurrence with having a cold.
To help relieve some of the congestion, you can take a hot shower or bath.  This will help you relax as well.  The steam will help relieve some of the congestion as well.  To also help with the congestion, you can get a humidifier and place it in the room you are staying in most of the time.
To help with the sore throat you can gargle with warm salt water.  You will most likely have muscle pain associated with the cold.  You can take aspirin or acetaminophen, or ibuprofen.  You can take over the counter medications with antihistamines in them to help combat the runny nose and irritated eyes.  Take cough suppressants to help with the coughing that you are having.  However, you do want to get that stuff broke up and coughing does help with theat.  If you are coughing and it is breaking the mucous up, you might want to go as long as you can.
You should always see a doctor if you condition gets worse or last for more than a week.  I am not a medical doctor and this article should not replace the great information you would get from a physician that knows you and your situation.

Selena Gomez Looks Happy, Flashes Cleavage After Justin Bieber Breakup

In her first post-split appearance, Selena Gomez showed her ex what he's missing by wearing a cleavage-baring, turquoise Alberta Ferretti dress in L.A. Jan. 10.

At the Vogue event in the designer's honor, an upbeat Gomez chatted with Chelsea Lately host Chelsea Handler, 37. The Spring Breakers star has yet to publicly comment on her split with Bieber, 18.

The exes were first linked in November 2010 after a "cuddly" IHOP date, though they denied dating until the spring of 2011. The Wizards of Waverly Place actress and the "As Long as You Love Me" singer called it quits in November 2012.

"Selena broke up with Justin about a week ago. It's been a really challenging experience over the last year because of their crazy schedules," an insider told Us Weekly at the time. "Selena definitely had some major trust issues with Justin."

The pair soon reconnected and were spotted kissing and holding hands at an American Music Awards afterparty weeks later. While vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for a New Year's trip, "They had another huge fight, and Selena won't forgive him," a source reveals in the Jan. 21 issue of Us Weekly (out now). "Selena is done with him."

In the wake of their split, Bieber was photographed smoking what appears to be marijuana on Jan. 2, just one day after a paparazzo was killed chasing his Ferrari. (Bieber was not in the vehicle at the time.)

Bieber is now being accused of assaulting Moshe Benabou, an ex-member of the Israeli army who worked as his bodyguard from March 2011 to October 2012. Benabou is seeking unspecified damages for assault and battery, in addition to $420,000 in unpaid overtime.

A source close to Bieber, however, insists the "whole thing is baseless and meritless. Justin never hit him and couldn't! He is so much smaller. This whole thing is a lie."

epic Makeup Before and After

The history of cosmetics spans at least 6000 years of human history, and almost every society on earth. Some argue that cosmetic body art was the earliest form of ritual in human culture, dating over 100,000 years ago from the African Middle Stone Age. The evidence for this comes in the form of utilised red mineral pigments (red ochre) including crayons associated with the emergence of Homo sapiens in Africa.
Archaeological evidence of cosmetics certainly dates from ancient Egypt and Greece. According to one source, early major developments include the use of castor oil in ancient Egypt as a protective balm and skin creams made of beeswax, olive oil, and rosewater described by the Romans. The Ancient Greeks also used cosmetics. Cosmetics are mentioned in the Old Testament—2 Kings 9:30 where Jezebel painted her eyelids—approximately 840 BC—and the book of Esther describes various beauty treatments as well. Cosmetics were also used in ancient Rome, although much of Roman literature suggests that it was frowned upon. It is known that some women in ancient Rome used various substances, including lead-based formulas, to whiten the skin, and kohl was used to line the eyes.

amazing tattos in the world

Tattooing has been practiced for centuries in many cultures, particularly in Asia, and spread throughout the world.[citation needed] The Ainu, an indigenous people of Japan, traditionally had facial tattoos. Today, one can find Atayal, Seediq, Truku, and Saisiyat of Taiwan,[1] Berbers of Tamazgha (North Africa), Igbo, Yoruba, Fulani and Hausa people of Nigeria, and Māori of New Zealand with facial tattoos.[citation needed]
Tattooing spread among Polynesians and among certain tribal groups in Africa, Borneo, Cambodia, Europe, Japan, the Mentawai Islands, MesoAmerica, New Zealand, North America and South America, the Philippines, and Taiwan.[1] Indeed, the island of Great Britain takes its name from tattooing; Britons translates as "people of the designs", and Picts, the peoples who originally inhabited the northern part of Britain, literally means "the painted people".[2] Despite some taboos surrounding tattooing, the practice continues to be popular in many parts of the world.[citation needed]
Tattooing has been a Eurasian practice at least since Neolithic times. Ötzi the Iceman, dating from the 5th to 4th millennium BC, was found in the Ötz valley in the Alps and had some 57 carbon tattoos consisting of simple dots and lines on his lower spine, behind his left knee, and on his right ankle. These tattoos were thought to be a form of healing because of their placement, which resembles acupuncture.[19] Other mummies bearing tattoos and dating from the end of the 2nd millennium BC have been discovered, such as the Mummy of Amunet from ancient Egypt and the mummies at Pazyryk on the Ukok Plateau.[3]
Pre-Christian Germanic, Celtic and other central and northern European tribes were often heavily tattooed, according to surviving accounts. The Picts were famously tattooed (or scarified) with elaborate, war-inspired black or dark blue woad (or possibly copper for the blue tone) designs. Julius Caesar described these tattoos in Book V of his Gallic Wars (54 BC).
Various other cultures have had their own tattoo traditions, ranging from rubbing cuts and other wounds with ashes, to hand-pricking the skin to insert dyes.

How The Mind Plays Games With the Body

The placebo effect is not the end of the story

The mind creates the concept of being either sick or well that is then physically manifested. We make a conscious decision about the input but some say this process can bypass the conscious mind. A chameleon does not decide what colour it is going to manifest. It is an automatic process and depends on the camouflage it needs. From there the somatic computer takes over and this is incapable of discrimination. Give it the instruction either way and all the systems will rally to produce the results. Tell yourself you are taking a drug (mind suggestion) and the body responds to the suggested effects (manifestation). We call this the placebo effect. But for the chameleon, there is another sub-routine that applies to us as well. When threatened, it turns dark, almost black regardless of the item it clings to. The brain is full of surprises.
An inactive substance or a specially formulated drug can produce the same physical effects as a drug. This depends on how well suggestions are presented on the label of the bottle or the literature that is used to create a mental platform. If no information is provided the effects of the placebo are absent. But side effects of blank placebos have been manifested when the patient is alerted to possible complications.
All this is mind mischief but the effects can be profound. Auto suggestion plays a significant role in medicine. So does a belief system. In 1986 the Kirsch studies involving a number of comparisons made between effects of antidepressant drugs and placebos showed that there was only a minimal difference of about 10%. This was even the case when two popular and very expensive antidepressant drugs plus an herbal alternative were compared to a placebo. St John's Wort (Hypericum), Prozac, Zoloft and the placebo only showed a minimal difference in efficacy. It seems that the depressed person takes the pill (a herb, a placebo or a drug) and regardless of the chemistry involved, the mind did the rest.
But that is not the end of the story because all drugs regardless of their origin can cause side effects even if nobody is not told about them. The funny thing is that when people alert the mind to possible problems they can also result in real complications - even with a placebo! With research about the benefits of certain herbs to help alleviate brain and nerve related disorders one has to be conservative.
On the one hand you need to tell the user of the beneficial effects of a substance but you do not want to put ideas into their heads. It is best to rely on observation and feedback. If it works, they will tell you and give you the details without any preconceived ideas. If something unpleasant happens you will know even sooner!this method is similar to the drug proving first used by Samuel Hahnemann in homeopathy.
Experience and observation work beyond the effects of a placebo
Homeopathic remedies are based on a system of observing the effects of a substance without any prior knowledge. The process is called drug proving. The observations of people who undergo a drug proving are studied to produce a symptom picture. For example, if onions make your eyes water then the onion can be used in a homeopathically potentised remedy to correct a problem with excessive tearing of the eyes. A bee sting produces itchiness, burning, swelling or a rash. This is a symptom picture of the effects of histamine, so a remedy is made from the bee venom to use as an alternative to an antihistamine drug and so on.
I have often unwittingly made similar observations and once discovered that after drinking a blend of herb tea my joints began to ache. Muscles felt painful, almost bruised. I felt stabbing pains in my neck and jaw. I checked the ingredients and sure enough, one of them was St John's Wort. I had not known this beforehand. In homeopathy we use a remedy made from this herb for similar aches and pains at a low potency of D 6. It does not contain the active substance, only an energy blueprint of it that works in reverse to the herb itself.  At a more diluted level it is used to ease a piercing, stabbing pain such as toothache or a crushed finger.
This may sound a bit mind-boggling but bear with me. St John's Wort in the herbal (gross) form alleviates depression they say. Side effects include stabbing pains and photosensitivity. In a potentised form it should do the reverse so does taking St John's Wort as a homeopathic remedy cause depression, yet treat aches and pains and photosensitivity?
St John's Wort (Hypericum) is said to work as a selective serotonin uptake inhibitor in its natural, unpotentised state. There is no mention of the side effects (drug proving) that include shooting pains and aching joints. But photosensitivity is often mentioned. Talk about a "selective information uptake overload"! It is hard to tell if the information is relayed by the mind or by simple feedback from areas of the body that experience the effects. The good news is that many people love St John's Wort because when they take it they don't feel depressed. There are no really harmful side effects as compared to patent drugs and it is a lot cheaper. Even the difference in cost will help to alleviate "financial depression".
The nocebo effect and how it sabotages health and wellbeing
A nocebo effect is the opposite of a placebo effect. They both use the same belief system in opposite ways. According to some studies the conscious mind does not even have to be involved but that is debatable. When the media explodes with a story about harmful effects of anything from wi-fi exposure to a virulent bug going round people will get ill and faithfully prove the harmful effects even if the information was a scam. Studies also show that people feel better protected by a vaccine against the flu that is more expensive and more difficult to get.
Some people will be given a remedy by a friend for their ailment. It may be exactly what they need to get better but they object to it coming from a friend, costing next to nothing and not being a formal drug that is prescribed by their doctor. The result is obvious. They will not get better and they will soon complain of headaches, cramps or whatever they can imagine in order to make their point. We were told as children to: "put on your jersey or you will get a cold!" Yet another example of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The big ugly lie about parabens - people believe it!
Most people are terrified of parabens in cosmetics. "Well informed" people complain about the use of methylparaben and propylparaben that are used to control microbial infections in herbal products. People prefer to use a product that does not contain any preservatives. This means that the product may be contaminated and unfit for use but it makes them happy. Big names in the cosmetic industry claim that these parabens are artificial harmful chemicals. They warn people that if the product cannot be put in the mouth they must not use it on the skin. They say that parabens are hormone disruptors and they cause cancer.
All of this is not true. Not one of these claims can stand up to well researched evidence to the contrary but as said before, the bigger the lie is, the more people will believe it. How about you? the truth is that mangoes and granadillas are full of these parabens! Parabens do not have a molecular structure that even resembles a steroid hormone with 4 carbon linked molecule. 90% of the parabens we find in the body are from food sources including green tea, vanilla and strawberries.
The joke is that we buy "organic" paraben-free cosmetics with these ingredients and feel good about spending the extra money. You may ask if the product contains the real green tea that contains parabens or have they conjured up fake paraben-free green tea and other immaculate "organic" conceptions! Then we foul-mouth people who use parabens as they occur in nature and make products that last for decades because they are not infected. But worrying about a product that contains parabens is probably what produces the nocebo effect.
They say it’s all in the mind but without a healthy clean brain it is impossible to think your way out of a perpetual fog.
Your mind can be influenced by information that is either true or false. It is the mind that offers the suggestion to the body to become ill or to be healthy. But if the mind is foggy in the first place then a dodgy blueprint will be channelled to the body to manifest. A confused mindset will send out conflicting instructions. People also make suggestions, claims and offer amazing cures and special diets. You are free to accept them or reject them. But they say that the bigger the lie is, the more people will believe it. We may add that if the lie has been told by an important doctor or professor then more people will fall for it and ont even question its validity.
Rather seek the truth and work things out for yourself. Eating like Professor Tim Noakes is a fine example of how carbo-loading can cause brain fog. He is also ignorant about all the other side effects of such an unhealthy protocol. Time and bitter experience caught up with him and all his followers were left to work out how to tell the mind the exact reverse of what he claimed. Dr Atkins shows how a meat and fat obsession to the detriment of carbohydrates can backfire and also result in ill-health.
Collective unconsciousness and universal beliefs can create diseases
In some countries menopause is a health problem and needs hormones and drugs to correct it. In primitive and remote areas women view it as temporary phase that leads to empowerment and a new lease of life. In Japan and China people consume vast quantities of MSG (monosodium glutamate) and do not have damaged neurons as a result of it. We are told by important doctors that is is a synthetic toxin. People panic and insist that all products should be free of MSG.
This became a joke because the body makes its own glutamate and it is an important neurotransmitter. The nerve damage that occurs is avoidable. It is due to excessive cortisol that interferes with its uptake in the brain. When garlic is eaten with MSG or at other meals it helps to protect neurons from oxidative damage. This neurotransmitter is certainly not a man-made toxin but people believe it is and then they get sick when they eat it. The highest levels of monosodium glutamate occur in soy sauce, tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Now labels have to declare: "No added MSG." What do you believe?
Mind over grey matter
The mind is not one of our physical components. It requires solid human hardware to interact with. The brain and nervous system depend on the mind and the thoughts and suggestions that it generates. Both need to be kept healthy and free of toxic, destructive elements: “A sound mind in a healthy body.” The brain and nervous system are vulnerable to environmental toxins, especially herbicides that can destroy nerve endings that are responsible for the uptake of dopamine. Even food, especially an inappropriate overload of carbohydrates can have a chaotic effect on our hormones and neurotransmitters. (Tim Noakes has finally discovered this!)
It is important to deal with matters of the mind at all levels. Stress makes one ill because of the way cortisone and other neurotransmitters that deal with emergency situations shift from a temporary surge to extended phases that can damage nerve endings and disrupt our internal network. Simple stress reducing techniques are very effective because they work at a more conscious level. A mind that is reassured and relaxed can influence the way our body chemistry behaves. This is what really changes the way hormones and neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, serotonin and dopamine behave.
How serotonin takes care of our wellbeing
But what if the neurotransmitter does not have enough time to engage on the designated receptor site? Let us look at a popular scenario. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps to control some rather unpleasant effects: anxiety, depression, rage, obsessive compulsive disorder and often an attempt at suicide. Yes, life is not worth living if serotonin is not engaging on a receptor and delivering those feel good, happy messages! Over time your sensitivity to pain increases and you can suffer from a lack of sleep and have constant cravings for sweet things. Although you may have enough serotonin floating around it may be that the receptors are not fully engaging with it.
Serotonin is made out of an amino acid called 5-hydroxy-tryptophan (5-HTP). The brain also needs it to produce melatonin, a hormone that controls our sleeping cycles. It also helps us to prevent some types of cancer. Good nutrition is required to make sure there is a steady stream of amino acids for the production of important hormones and especially our neurotransmitters. But if something interferes with the uptake of these messengers we still do not get any relief. Drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSR’s) are used to correct this problem. But they do nothing to address the real cause of the broken connection that may be damaged nerve endings.
Most of the drugs cause further complications that include tremors, sexual dysfunction and suicidal tendencies. This can lead to dependence on other medications to correct these side effects. Antipsychotic drugs are often prescribed but they can cause insulin resistance and long-term neurological damage. This gets us back to the original problem – if the nerve endings are damaged it is impossible to benefit from serotonin. Are there herbal alternatives? St John’s Wort (Hypericum) is a popular herbal remedy to use to improve the uptake of serotonin. It can increase photosensitivity in some people but it is a safer option.
A natural way to help neurotransmitters and hormones deliver their messages
There is another way to improve the performance of hormones and neurotransmitters on receptor sites and it offers a very elegant and non-habit forming solution. A second messenger is the nickname for a naturally occurring delivery system based on cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). We know that adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a three-part energy bundle used to fuel up the cell’s power station called the mitochondria. It splits into three units of cAMP to activate the designated receptor sites of some of our major hormones. cAMP is one of the keys to controlling communication between the brain and its hormonal messengers.
Barry Sears the author of The Anti-Ageing Zone came up with an excellent protocol to increase and activate cAMP. It involves a strict low carbohydrate diet that keeps levels of insulin and cortisol under control. Large amounts of Omega 3 supplements complete the equation and cAMP becomes readily available. Forskholin is a phytochemical that activates adenylate cyclase - the enzyme that breaks down the ATP bundle to release the cAMP. Forskolin comes from the roots of Coleus Forskohlii. The action of the cAMP is prolonged in the presence of caffeine, justifying the addition of Chinese green tea to impart a longer life to your second messenger!

Forskolin from the herb Coleus Forskholii helps to treat: hypertension, mild congestive heart failure, asthma, eczema and psoriasis, digestive weakness, irritable bowel problems and weight gain. It is good for persistent urinary infections. Coleus also has anti-inflammatory properties and anti-histamine effects. Coleus helps to improve the effects of hormones like oestrogen and testosterone. It enhances thyroid activity and this speeds up a sluggish metabolism and helps to burn fat. It helps to alleviate insulin and leptin resistance. This in turn improves appetite control and reduce sugar cravings.
Our mind affects hormones and neurotransmitters
Neurotransmitters need to actively engage on their target receptors and stay there, until the message is delivered. It is important to maintain our levels of raw materials such as amino acids and to restore damaged nerves. Herbs can work miracles in this arena and are part of the tool kit we need to repair and maintain our central nervous system upon which the mind depends to express itself and carry out our scenarios. But it is the mind that is responsible for giving out the commands in the first place and it is up to us to base our beliefs on what is beneficial and not harmful.
If we believe a condition is incurable then we will have to live with it. How often are we told this, even by doctors? This is what the mind then tells the body and the hormones and neurotransmitters will orchestrate and even dramatize the effects of the so-called condition. They are merely carrying out what you believe even if it is not true.
This happens when patients are given a wrong diagnosis in a hospital. For example, a man who was awaiting the condemnation of a diagnosis of incurable cancer received an all-clear prognosis by mistake. He was jubilant and went home and never was affected by the worrying symptoms again. They went away. But his actual report was given to a healthy person by mistake who went into shock mode and died of cancer some time later. The hormones and neurotransmitters don’t control us; they react to the way we feel and think. A perceived danger is real to them and stress reactions take over even if there isn’t a real tiger in the room.

Always be mindful of health and happiness and it will manifest
All of us can take positive steps in order to feel better and not dwell on what is wrong. (It may not be but you can imagine the problem.) In other words, suggest to the body that there is a problem and that is what you will get. Resisting the problem will make it worse because what you resist will persist. Denial will not work either as it is based on resisting the problem.
No medical diagnosis, treatment or drug is needed to encompass a little effort and discipline in our lives. When you take positive steps to make a few changes and feel good about the things you encompass to help a condition you have already given yourself a positive dose of mind medicine. Feeling good and relaxed and delighting in the effects of what you plan to do is good for the body, the mind and the soul.
We are quite capable of manifesting a healthy happy body regardless of what it looks like in the mirror. The body is the mirror of the mind and that is where the biggest changes can be made. The mind is the mirror of your soul and your soul is connected to God-consciousness. So what do you see in your mirror?

7 Quick Tips on How To Write a Resume

What to consider when writing a resume

A résumé is a document for you to present your career background and professional skills. It is often spelt as “resume” and sometimes also known as a curriculum vitae (CV) in common parlance (though there is technically a slight difference in some countries). The purpose of the resume is to land an interview (and the purpose of the interview is to land the job). What are some of the things you should consider when writing a resume? Here are 7 quick tips:
1) Present your most relevant experience, skills or education first in your resume.
Presenting what is most relevant to the potential employer helps them to see upfront what you can bring to the table, so that there is a higher chance they will continue to read your resume. For example, if you are switching fields from an engineering background to a finance field, the most recent finance-related experience or education (e.g. an MBA or CFA) should be presented first.
2) Tailor your resume to each employer
While tailoring your resume to each employer is time-consuming, it is beneficial as it helps you to target each employer specifically. If you do not think this is practical all the time, you could tailor your resume for those high priority jobs that you really want, and send a more general one for the other jobs. You could also prepare one resume for each category of jobs, for example one for Sales and another for Marketing.
3) Use a Clean Design for your resume
Using a clean design helps the potential employer read and scan the resume quickly, so that he is not distracted by any jarring elements. Do not clutter your resume with unnecessary design elements (such as cute-looking bullets) and use lines or headers appropriately to separate the sections of your resume.
4) Use Action Words or Power Words in your role descriptions
In the description of each role, you should use action words or power words to more fully describe what you did at the role. For example, instead of saying “Involved in restructuring exercise”, you should say “Restructured company operations”.
5) Quantify your Achievements
When listing your achievements, where practicable, you should use numbers to quantify them. For example, instead of saying “Led restructuring exercise to cut costs”, you can say “Restructured company operations to cut costs by $5million”.
6) Drop the Objective Statement in the resume
Many resume templates or guides advise people to include at the beginning of the resume an objective statement, for example “Objective: To secure a Human Resources management position at a leading firm”. However, there is no good reason to include the objective statement on the resume, as the recruiting manager on the other end will usually not care too much about what your objective is, but rather how your skills or background can match the role they are trying to fill. If you decide to include it, the objective could be better covered in the cover letter.
7) Proofread and proofread again
This is very important as any mistake, large or small, spelling or grammar or formatting, will leave the potential employer with the impression that you are not meticulous or detail-oriented. This can kill your chances quite quickly. Hence, you should proofread a few times to ensure that there are no mistakes.

Weight Loss

Losing weight is an extremely challenging thing to do, especially with the increasingly misleading and confusing information you seen through the news and internet. This article will attempt to simplify the process of weight loss and show you specific exercises that you can do to help you on your way to becoming healthier.
Introduction
First of all, the science behind weight loss is actually very simple. There aren't magic weight loss pills that will cause you to lose 100 lbs in a few months, and there isn't any magic machines you see on infomercials that are going to make you lose weight fast while not changing your lifestyle habits or eating habits.

Weight loss is a committment that you have to dedicate time and a lot of energy to. Weight loss comes down to one thing: you need to consume fewer calories than you spend in a day. That means that you must not only alter what you eat and how much you eat, but you also have to increase how many calories you are spending in a day.

Buying a gym membership costs money, which will often help motivate people to continue going to the gym, simply because they are paying for it. However, it is also possible to get a great workout at home using resistance bands or buying your own dumbbells.

Reasons to Lose Weight
There are an unfathomable number of benefits that exercise and weight loss have on the body. I could list off 100 benefits and not even scratch the surface of its benefits.

When looking to ose weight and start exercising, it is important to make an effective workout routine and to stick to it. Set both short-term and long-term goals for yourself that are realistic and attainable. But most importantly, when you are setting the goal of weight loss, your goal should be to be healthier overall and not to just try to look good.

Although a healthy person is more attractive to the opposite sex than an unhealthy person, exercise and weight loss will also greatly reduce and in most cases, eliminated your risk for chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease.

How to Do It
Now that you have decided to lose weight, its time to get started. It is important to understand that although cardio exercises are great at creating a calorie deficit that leads to weight loss, you must also engage in resistance training to help gain muscle mass that will make it easier to keep the weight off, as well as increase your quality of life. I have many articles about various streight building exercises that you can check out on my profile.

Cardio
Most gyms have many cardio machiens that you can make use of to start burning calories and get active.

The Elliptical

The elliptical is a great machine for losing weight and burning calories, and will ease the impact on your joints compared to jogging.

The Row Machine

The row machine is another great machine that is used to burn calories. It requires force production from basically every muscle in the body and is great for toning the whole body.

SwimmingSwimming is an incredibly exhausting exercise that will give you amazing results in the calorie burning department. It requires the use of every joint and every muscle in the body to propel yourself through the water, meaning that it will incinerate calories.

Conclusion
Remember to check out my profile for various routines and explanation of resistance training exercises and be sure to incorporate them into your exercise routine for maximum fat loss results, plus the ability  to keep the weight off.

Hopefully this article has given you an idea about how to go about weight loss, and hopefully it motivated you a little to get out there and get active.
